Corciano is an enchanting town in the west area of the Umbrian region, in a land of seducing routes and uncontaminated environments, filled with artistic treasures and ancient traditions. It sits 420 meters above sea level, a jewel guarded with utmost care by its inhabitants, Corciano is an ancient medieval castle enclosed by high boundary walls.
In the landscape surrounding the medieval village of Corciano, centuries old olive groves are dominant stretching out further to rich dense woodlands. .Walking along Corciano's city's walls a huge panorama opens to the views extending from Monte Amiata to Todi, Lake Trasimeno to mounts Tezio and Acuto, and the nearby natural beauty of Monte Malbe.
In these hills lush with vegetation and abundant in water grows the supreme olives that make a magnificent extra virgin olive oil appreciated for its aroma and taste and organoleptic properties. Ideal for serving with all of the other delicious foods that the bountiful nature offers. Black truffles and white truffles, beans from the Lake Trasimeno area, famous barbequed sausages with "la torta al testo", and cinghiale cooked with tagliatelle are some of the typical rustic culinary delicacies.
Depending on the number of participants accommodations will have precedence at your host's family run agriturismo, a country house recently restored , with large, spacious rooms that can accommodate 2,3 and 4 people. If needed neighboring lodging facilities will become an option. Each accommodation is unique with either twin or matrimonial beds and are available on a first come, first served basis, so book early to ensure you get the one right for you. The town is quite small, so all accommodation is within easy walking distance, but there are some steps to be negotiated, both in the streets and at the entrance to some of the lodging. Please contact us if you have any particular needs so that we can ensure you have the most appropriate accommodation.
Meals will be eaten together in a communal dining room at the country house. Delicious food and communal eating is an essential part of the Italian lifestyle, and we encourage all participants to join us for the local cuisine and robust local wines that this area is famous for. We are happy to accommodate dietary preferences such as vegetarianism, as long as they aren't too taxing! However if you need to maintain a particularly strict diet we can arrange lodging in a small apartment with a kitchen.
For those who opt to explore on their own, the surrounding areas are easily accessible by car as well as public transportation. Nature walks are also lovely. You'll finds lots to do and discover in this splendid region of Umbria and its nearby Tuscany.
