Dear Friends,
When Laura asked us to host the Corciano String Quartet Retreat at our family run agriturismo we were glad to have the opportunity. It was a great start up holiday, music workshop with all of the right ingredients: the world-class Fitzwilliam Quartet, a newly restored country house, traditional Umbrian cuisine and Italy - who doesn't love Italy, who has never been here dreams of it and who has already visited longs for their return!
Not knowing what to expect, we set out to make it work. Instead a collaboration of a unique community of people who love playing music made our first retreat an extraordinary success. It was an unforgettable, intense week with time divided by outstanding and enthusiastic coaching sessions, brilliant music making, sharing glorious meals together and going on excursions in the beautiful Italian countryside. We never imagined having such fun and being asked unanimously to do it again!
The Corciano String Quartet Retreat was born of the desire to play music in a beautiful setting and enjoy each other's company. It is a unique opportunity for your ensemble to get away from it all and perhaps go that little bit deeper as a group, musically and personally, working closely together with members of the Fitzwilliam Quartet through daily coaching, talks and individual lessons in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. It is a spectacular experience and we look forward to sharing it with you. Please visit in the words of our participants to see what other's are saying.
We hope you will join us for an informal week of good music, good food, good companionship and "la bella vita"!
Yours,
Kim Marie Gitto
P.S. Special gratitude to Laura Vick our dear friend and Luthier at The House of Note in Minneapolis. It is with her gracious giving that our family has been blessed with the joy of your music making.
